My 2011 short film, ”Mikey and Jools Keep Safe” (commissioned by CEDAR and produced by mediaco-op) has won two awards in Education categories on the festival circuit over winter. The film was awarded a coveted Gold Plaque at the prestigious Chicago International Film and an award of merit at the US festival Accolade, recognising “exceptional achievement in craft and creativity, standout production, and unique voices”.

After creating a Monster illustration to support a book project for Great Ormand Street Hospital Charity, they invited me to create a series of 12 illustrations to accompany the main story. It was a very fun experience! The book will be out in summer, I’ll keep you posted. Proceeds go to support G.O.S.H.

Shaun Tan. Inspiring. An amazing visionary artist and a compelling speaker. I saw him give a lecture as part of the Edinburgh Book Festival and he spoke eloquently and articulately about the process of being an artist. One of the best events I’ve been to this year.

I’m seeing many interesting events this year at the book festival, but so far the highlight was a masterclass given by Giles Andreae, also known as Edward Munkton. Less of a class and more of an honest, frank discussion on work, success and happiness. His new series ‘World of Happy‘ is amazing. Next up, looking forward to Julia Donaldson in discussion with Axel Schueffler!

I’ve added a bit more personality to the site, including widgets and a new page design. Hope you enjoy it!

I’ve delivered my Monster creation to the Great Ormand Street Hospital Charity (GOSH). Using the imaginative line drawing provided by Avondale Primary School, I created the fun piece below. The Hospital invited UK illustrators to donate their time and talent for a GOSH Monster Book, which will be released at Christmas. All proceeds will go to the Great Ormand Street Hospital Charity.

July has been a fun month and I’ve had my fingers dipped in many creative pots. I just wrapped up a television ad for Kolik Films and STV Creative. I developed all the design from the script stage to delivery and look forward to seeing my work on the box later this month. I picked up some more flash banner work with my pals over at Blonde. I’m putting the finishing touches on my monster illustration for The Great Ormond Street Hospital, who have launched the GOSH Moster Book website. There’s some exciting prospects on the horizon for August as well. Stay tuned…

I had an amazing time joining Blonde Digital as an animator in residence for the last five weeks. Hope to be back soon! They even wrote a fab post about my time there. Check out what they had to say.
