February 2011 Illustrator The Art of… Edinburgh, UK Design business branding for “The Art Of…” a company which encourages a range of professional aspirations.Worked with the client to conceptually design a set of five cards that would tie in to the website and target three key areas of development; education, leadership, culture. August 2010 Motion Graphics Artist mediaco-op for Who Cares? Scotland Glasgow, UK Designed motion graphics for a short film made by teenagers in care to promote awareness about the prejudice surrounding their situation. July-August 2010 Animator Ko lik Films LTD for STV Creative Edinburgh, UK Animated a 30 second television advert for the University of Cumbria to promote 2010 enrolment. Artwork linked visually to existing branding on the website.
July-August 2010 Animation Assistant Gallery 37 for Impact Arts Edinburgh, UK Gallery 37 was an arts and regeneration program for 14-17 year olds and allowed young people to work alongside professional artists to create an interactive exhibition as part of the Edinburgh Festival.
May 2010 Designer & Animator mediaco-op for NHS Glasgow, UK Designed and animated two 30 second virals promoting an NHS program, ACES (Active Children Eating Smart). Worked closely with the client and director to create encouraging and fun pieces promoting healthy eating and exercise for primary and secondary aged children.
January 2009-March 2010 Assistant Director of 2D & Lead Artist “Mondo’s Search For the Sun” Once Were Farmers Glasgow, UK Worked as an integral part of a small team on a short film. Responsibilities as Assistant Director included scheduling for all 2-D artists, developing effective digital work flow and setting up a practical compositing system. Responsibilities as a Lead Artist included animation, colouring, creating a library of 2-D textures and texture mapping.
October 2008 Lecturer – “Artist Master Class” Ruby Orange Biggar, UK Gave several lectures on oil painting techniques and my experience as a contemporary exhibiting artist in Scotland. Part of the Biggar Little Festival.
August 2008 Visual FX Artist “The Finger Trap” GMAC Short Film Edinburgh, UK Responsibilities included digital cleanup, compositing, and visual FX (dust, stabilizing, rock debris) created in After Effects.
April 2008-June 2008 Workshop Assistant Red Kite Edinburgh, UK Assistant for animation workshops ranging from primary school projects to an introductory course for adults.
April 2008 Model Maker “The Finger Trap” GMAC Short Film Edinburgh, UK Created set based props such as records, old fashioned record box, plants, pots, books, and picture frames using a variety of materials.
December 2007-March 2008 Post Production Assistant “Glendogey Bogey” Ko lik Films Ltd for BBC Edinburgh, UK Applied After Effects and Photoshop knowledge to produce digital clean-up, mattes, lip-sync, composites and visual FX. Responsible for data management and coordinating a significant portion of the render farm.
July 2007-December 2007 NEATS Trainee (New Entrants Animation Training Scheme) “Glendogey Bogey” Scottish Screen (Sponsor) & Ko lik Films Ltd Edinburgh, UK Worked on pre-production as a model maker and on set construction. Gained experience with a variety of materials, including silicon moulds, resin casts, latex, polystyrene carving, and wooden set construction. Responsible for set dressing and lip-sync during production.
February 2007-June 2007 NEATS Trainee (New Entrants Animation Training Scheme) Scottish Screen (Sponsor) & Axis Animation Glasgow, UK Learned the basics of Maya and participated as a Production Assistant for Thrillville 2. Worked as a layout artist and animator on “Sing,” a live music video project.
January 2005-April 2005 Animator “Reluctant Silence” Scottish Screen Edinburgh, UK Created title sequences for a documentary about Aphasia. Designed audio driven animation sensitive to the difficult subject matter.
